Brazil is located in the eastern part of South America, bordering the Atlantic Ocean to the east. It has an area of about 8.5149 million square kilometers and a population of about 210 million.
Brazil's economic strength ranks first in Latin America and ninth in the world. It has developed agriculture and animal husbandry, and its coffee, sugar, citrus, and beans production ranks first in the world. It is a major producer and exporter of many agricultural products. It is rich in mineral, land, forest and hydropower resources. The reserves of 29 minerals such as niobium, manganese, titanium, bauxite, lead, tin, iron, and uranium are among the highest in the world.
It has a strong industrial base and a complete range of categories. Its petrochemical, mining, steel, and automobile industries are relatively developed. Its civil regional aircraft manufacturing and biofuel industries are at the leading level in the world. The output value of the service industry accounts for nearly 60% of its GDP, and its financial industry is relatively developed.
China and Brazil established diplomatic relations in 1974. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations, China and Brazil have continuously developed exchanges and cooperation in the fields of politics, economy and trade, justice, tourism, transportation, science and technology, culture and education. In 1993, the two countries established a strategic partnership. In 2012, the relationship between the two countries was upgraded to a comprehensive strategic partnership. In 2018, the bilateral trade volume between China and Brazil reached US$111.18 billion. Brazil is China's seventh largest trading partner, and China is Brazil's largest trading partner.
